Highlights of major occasions in the life of the parish

Deacon-in-Training comes to St. Andrew's:

In June of 2010, Barbara Ambrose joined us for six months as a Deacon-in-Training.  Barbara is in the first class of vocational deacons in the Diocese of Virginia. Though deacons are among the oldest recognized ministers in the Christian Church, vocational (permanent) deacons are new in the Diocese of Virginia.  According to the Outline of the Faith, found in the Book of Common Prayer,   “The ministry of a deacon is to represent Christ and his Church, particularly as a servant of those in need; and to assist bishops and priests in the proclamation of the Gospel and the administration of the sacraments.

Barbara will regularly participate in the worship leadership on Sundays and engage in a ministry among us that reflects her emerging role as one who will strengthen the bridge between the church and  the world.

Vacation Bible School is Jun 20-24, 2010, at St. Marks’s.  The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss is this year’s theme and information and registration forms are in the narthex.

Sets by John Gass and Geoff Cotton. Costumes by Susan Higgins, Annie Markowski and Laura Crabtree. For more information, contact Marty Watkin (355-2927 or 248-1564).
